What I’m Clicking On

Joan of Arc has been everywhere the last two years, haunting Halloween costumes, and even inspiring Chappell Roan’s 2024 MTV performance. We’re drawn to her symbol of strength, a fierce woman unyielding in the face of all. My own love for bold fashion mirrors my personal growth. In recent years, I’ve shed shyness, embraced confidence, and become more assertive. The moments I treasure most are when I stand up for myself, when I validate my own power, and when I’m unapologetically confident in my abilities. This transformation is reflected in my evolving style: utility, armor-like layers, a modern interpretation of strength. While I’m not about to don 10 lbs of chainmail, I adore the idea of fashion as armor, layers that protect, empower, and express.

Joan of Arc and the Fashion of Armor

Obsessed with this vintage Lip Service top inspired by old prison inmate uniforms.

The soft belt/wrap reminds me of a medieval fault.

This diva! The blunt bob, padded shoulders, and the little pocket on the arm…amazing.

This top is from the Olivier Theyskens Spring 1999 Ready-to-Wear Collection. I’m ready to wear this to my office job, it’s so chic! The defined shoulders and eyelet hooks are reminiscent of medieval fashions.

Barely-There Shoes

From flip-flops to finger shoes, I’m captivated by the simplicity of barely-there footwear. The 90s platform craze was fun, but lately, I’m drawn to flat, slender designs. It all began after a painful day of walking NYC in my low-top Converse. The blisters left me vowing to never sacrifice comfort again. I run best in the ultra-flat shoes from my senior year, and though they market plush, cushioned sneakers, I find them less than ideal. Flat shoes just make sense, and this revelation extended into my everyday style. Last summer, it was wedge flip-flops; this summer, black Havaianas that somehow go with everything. Even Vibram 5-fingers caught my eye. To me, a barely-there shoe is not just practical, it’s sleek, chic, and futuristic.

Vibram 5-Finger Soul. Tragically, these are sold out and Vibram isn’t planning on restocking them.

Styling flip flops with a pair of leg warmers I made out of a sweater.

I’ve always been enchanted by ballet-core, and leg warmers are no exception. They add a playful, feminine touch to any outfit, effortlessly elevating the vibe. I adore wearing them in transitional seasons, think leg warmers paired with flip-flops for an unexpected, fresh twist. There's something about their utilitarian edge, too. Layering them gives off a cool, functional vibe. But at their sweetest, leg warmers can transform an outfit into something soft, doll-like, and whimsical. It’s the perfect balance of practicality and charm.

Leg Warmers

The perfect combo of finger shoes and leg warmers.

I love to integrate my fashion interests together. Here I’m combining leg warmers with barely-there shoes.

I’m obsessed with these leg warmers from the Ashley Williams spring 2025 show.

I love wearing leg warmers over shoes.

I’m utterly captivated by wrestling boots; they sit at the intersection of my two obsessions: barely-there shoes and the armor-like allure of fashion. While not as minimal as flip-flops or finger shoes, these boots mold to the foot like a second skin, echoing my love for footwear that feels like an extension of the body. There’s a raw elegance in their form, reminiscent of pointe shoes, with that same sculptural, almost otherworldly quality. I can’t wait for the day I finally slip into a pair, feeling the weight of both strength and grace in every step.

Wrestling Boots

These are my dream shoes. They are Adidas wrestling boots from around 2000.

This is a virtual styling I did, inspired by apocalypse fashion.

I love the dark wash wide-leg shorts with wrestling boots.

This pic is reminiscent of the white Converse trend in middle school.
